Eszterházy Castle - Fertőd

"What the emperor can do, I can do!" This is the motto of the country's largest and most luxurious Baroque-Rococo castle, built on the reed-fringed, marshland-rich wildlife of Lake Fertő. The castle complex has remained intact over the centuries, and many of the museum's exhibitions are reminiscent of the time of Miklós Fényes Eszterházy. It was here that the great musical genius of the 18th century, Joseph Haydn, lived and worked.
