Fertő-Hanság Nemzeti Park

If you're visiting Sopron, don't miss out on exploring the Fertő-Hanság National Park. The Fertő region is a meeting point of various climatic zones, botanical, and zoological boundaries, shaping the landscape with its unique diversity within this small area in Europe.

Hany Istók Nature Trail:
This free-to-visit trail starts from the Esterházy Bird Observation Tower. We recommend visiting the Hanság Wildlife Exhibition in Öntésmajor, which is equipped with renewed, interactive elements.

Gyöngyvirág (Pearl Flower) Nature Trail:
Named after the flowers that bloom abundantly in May, this trail showcases the wildlife of the Szárhalmi Forest. Nine map boards along the route help with navigation. Starting from the Tómalom Bath, the 3.5 km trail takes 1-1.5 hours to complete.

Kövi Benge Nature Trail:
Located in the Fertőrákos Quarry area, this trail features 35 boards presenting the geological, zoological, and botanical values of the quarry. The trail is 300 meters long and takes about 30 minutes to walk through.

Nádak Útján (On the Reed Path) Nature Trail:
This trail runs along the shore of Lake Fertő in the vicinity of Hegykő. By following the route, you can explore the habitat of reeds and reed-cutting sites. Starting from the Hegykő St. Michael Church, the trail is either 2 km or 5 km long, taking 1 or 2 hours to complete.
