Flatzer Wand
One of the lesser-known but truly spectacular parts of the Viennese Alps is the Flatzer Wand, with its southern-facing, brightly lit, vertical limestone rock wall reaching heights of up to 100 meters. The Flatzer Wand is like a smaller version of the Hohe Wand.
Numerous climbing routes have been established on the rock face towering above Flatz, but even the average hiker can ascend to the edge of the plateau via well-maintained, ladder-equipped, wire-roped, marked hiking trails network.
Starting from Flatz's center, about an hour-long hike leads to the Neunkirchner Haus on the Flatzer Wand. The cabin sits at an altitude of 758 meters above sea level and operates on weekends throughout the year.
The Flatzer Wand is also rich in caves, with the most famous being the Flatzer dripstone cave.
