Landsee Castle

Landsee

The ruins of Landsee Castle are quite impressive, once being the largest fortress in Western Hungary in its time.

Built on a hill in the Lánzséri Mountains, the castle is close to the former border of historical Hungary, and its massive ruins are a popular excursion destination in the beautiful wooded surroundings.

The oldest part of the castle, dating back to the 12th-13th centuries, is a Romanesque-style residential tower surrounded by three bastion walls, with walls reaching up to 10 meters in thickness. Nowadays, it functions as a lookout tower, offering breathtaking views that make the climb well worth it.
