Várhely Lookout Tower

The "Várhely Lookout Tower" is one of the oldest among the lookout towers of the Sopron Park Forest, and perhaps from this one opens the most beautiful panorama of the forests surrounding Sopron and the neighboring Austrian landscapes.

From the top level of the rocket-shaped, wooden tower, the mosaic-like landscape of the Kisalföld plain, the foothills of the Little Carpathians, representatives of the high mountain ranges of the Alps, the waters of Lake Fertő, and the surrounding reed sea unfold before us.

At the foot of the lookout tower, there is a reconstruction of graves and buildings presenting the Hallstatt culture, and the memorial of Sopron archaeologist and teacher, Lajos Bella, who uncovered the archaeological site.
